'Fortnite' is likely to drop the big news of the 7th season in the game prizes [Update]
The Game Awards have not only been secured as the closest to the video game Oscars, but also, essentially, as Winter E3, where game companies publish news and developments for their upcoming releases of 2019 and more. We are receiving a lot of world premieres, but also something more. Both host Geoff Keighley and Epic have confirmed that there will be Fortnite news at the December 5 event.
Fortnite is nominated for some Game Awards, and it seems likely that he will win the best game in progress and, possibly, the best multiplayer, given the year he has had. But the time of the Game Awards coincides with the day after season 6 ends, and although it is still unclear exactly when season 7 begins, it may be that day or one or two days later.
We are probably watching teasers for season 7 as early as today, with one to come every day before the big revelation. And it seems possible that the great revelation could take place in the Game Awards, given the moment.
Of course, "news" could mean many things. Save the World could finally be free to play. Maybe there is some new toy or product line. Maybe Epic is doing another spin-off mode, which would be huge. But the moment it exactly aligns with season 7 seems to be the most obvious candidate. I'm imagining that maybe some kind of event in the game happens live in the Game Awards, which is not beyond the scope of the possibility given Epic's ability to run massive live events between the launch of the rocket and the explosion of the cube .
The great "mystery" in the period leading up to season 7 has been the approaching storm cloud on the southern horizon of the map. A storm cloud that revealed it was an iceberg. An iceberg that revealed it had what appears to be the tip of a castle. A castle where the lights went on just like yesterday. So this thing seems destined to join / hit the map sometime soon. Soon enough to go live in the game prizes to launch season 7? I mean, I would not put anything beyond Epic at this time, although if it were a unique event, we would listen to it ahead of time so that everyone could be live in the game when it happened.
We know that the castle of the iceberg is approaching, we know that the snow is approaching and there is a robot hanging around the characters that lurk. It seems that where this is going, but we are out of the cube era and now we are in something new, and it is possible that the Game Prizes could be the starting point. You can bet that I will be looking to see what is announced / revealed.

They have also said that the Game Awards will not mark the launch of season 7, although the teaser says it will be released that day. However, there have been indications that this has to do with an in-game event that could occur during the Game Awards as Season 7 begins.
